| The Singapore
Kerala Association is the focal point for Singapore Malayalees - an association that gives
them reason to be proud of their heritage while continuing to be relevant to their
changing aspirations. In 1917, a group of malayalee immigrants
living and working in Singapore formed a samajam to send a greeting message to the
Travancore Maharaja Sree Moolam Thirunal on his 60th birthday celebration .The association
was named "Keraleeya Mahajana Sangham".In 1933 the samajam was renamed as the
"Singapore Malayalee Association". In 1961 the name was changed to Singapore
Kerala Asociation(SKA). |

| OBJECTIVES: |
The samajams objectives were to get to know more malayalees,welcome
new arrivals and help the needy.They also keep the language and culture alive.They
organised newspaper reading,sports,games, meetings, debates,talks,dramas and celebrations
on Onam , Vishu etc. .Today,having come under the leadership of many prominent persons,
the premises remain the centre of SKA with the aims and objectives; to preserve the
language and cultural values,friendship among the malayalees and other ethnic groups of
the Indian community, as well as the other communities of Singapore. |

| ACTIVITIES: |
| The
Association has many activities such as talent time,Onam Queen Contest, Malayalam
and bilingual dramas, Onam Village, Childrens day, Onam
lunch, Sports, games, picnics, debates etc. It has an active ladieswing also. |
