  • Student having secured admission in an overseas college / university / educational institution.
  • Student securing articleships offered by firms of Chartered Accountants in UK.
  • Student holding Indian passports who had earlier gone abroad for prosecuting studies without availing of exchange.
  • Student holding foreign passports by virtue of their birth abroad, while their parents were  abroad for assignment / business purpose and have subsequently returned to India for permanent settlement and are fully dependent on their parents.
  • Student whose parents are foreign nationals permanently resident in India and the parents do not have / had foreign currency balances and the student is fully dependent on his parents

Purpose

For higher studies abroad.

Limit

Towards tution fees, maintenance, books and minor equipment, etc., if the concerned
university / institution provides full assistance
Actual requirement subject to the amount not exceeding US $ 100000 per annum
Towards assistanceship / scholarship, if the
concerned university / institution provides partial assistance
Balance amount required after adjusting the amount of assistance / scholarship of US $ 100000 per annum
Towards initial expenses, if the student is in
receipt of full assistance from the concerned
university / institution
Upto US $ 1500
Towards incidental expenses, if the student is on full sponsorship of a close relative, etc. Upto US $ 500

Special case

  • Exchange for maintenance expenses will be released in the form of currency notes (not   exceeding US $ 500), travellers cheques (not exceeding US $ 1500) and the balance amount in the form of draft in favour of the applicant or the university / institution and payable at the overseas centre.
  • Tution fees should be remitted by means of draft issued in the name of concerned foreign university / institution.
  • Remitance for second and subsequent years should be availed of through the same branch of  the authorised dealer.
  • Students going for studies to Russia or other Republics of CIS countries can be released exchange in the form of foreign currency notes for a period upto one year.
