The school offers education from standard IV to XII. The great emphasis is laid on the English spoken as well as written skills.

In classes IX & X the school offers English, Assamese, Hindi or Bengali, Maths, the Sciences, Social studies. In addition to that the choice for sixth subject for the commerce, computing, physical education and French.

From classes V to VIII the students are offered Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi and Sanskrit as third language. There is the possibility for study of French, Russian or German at certain level. Art and music are central and integral to the curriculum

The admission commences in the moth of April. The selection is made on the basis of written entrance test conducted in November every year. The written test will be in English, Hindi, Maths & General skills. Shortlisted candidates would be called for the interview. Registration has to be done before entrance test. The Registration form can be availed from The Assam Valley School. The centre for the test may be at Calcutta, Delhi, Ooty and Dehradun.

Boarding - The school offers five boarding houses looked after by a house master or house mistress.. There are modern, tiled, western style bathrooms and recreation room for TV, indoor games and leisure.

Medical facility - There is a small sick bay for minor ailments. There is a permanent nursing staff. In the event of emergency the medical services is availed from the Central Hospital at Phulbari, 20 minutes away. A doctor from the hospital visit the school three times a week.

Other facilities - There is two spacious art rooms and a music school with eight practice cubicles. In addition to that a full size stage auditorium which is used for Drama production and concerts. And other facilities includes games, expeditions, extra curricular activities, community services etc.
