| Conditions |
| |
|
1. |
Car
should have been specially designed for the physically
handicapped. |
|
2. |
Certificate
from the State Civil Surgeon or Head of the concerned wing
in the Government Hospital, certifying that the Importer is
physically handicapped, should be produced. |
|
3. |
Satisfactory
evidence clearly justifying the need and essentiality for
import of a self-driven car should be produced. |
|
4. |
Importer
should produce his driving license to the licensing
authority within six months from the date of import. |
|
5. |
Car
can be sold or otherwise disposed off or possession parted
with or pledged / mortgaged / hypothecated subject to the
approval of Director General of Foreign Trade. |
|
6. |
Car
should be registered in the name of the Importer on import
of the vehicle into the country. |
|
7. |
Importer
should execute a bond undertaking to fulfill the conditions
applicable to import for an amount equal to Customs
assessed c.i.f. value of the vehicle. The bond shall
be valid for a period of five years and it may not be
supported by a bank guarantee. |

| Special
cases |
|
1. |
Payment
for the vehicle can be remitted outside India in Indian
Rupees. |
2. |
Payment
of Customs duty can be made in Indian Rupees. |
3. |
If
the car is gifted, a confirmatory letter from the donor
indicating the donor's relationship with the donee should be
produced |
