Gulu Lalvani founder of Binatone

 

Gulu Lalvani is the who's who of the UK and has been a part of the elite Asian rich list brought out by “The Daily Telegraph” in 2007, Gulu Lalvani and family have been valued at 450 million pounds have been listed as the fourth richest British Asian.

 

Gulu Lalvani is the founder and chairman of Binatone, the world’s fourth or fifth largest manufacturer of digital cordless phones. Gulu was born in Karachi (now a part of Pakistan) and raised in Mumbai, came to Britain as a student. He along with his brother Pratap founded Binatone in 1958 to import radios from Hong Kong.


Today Binatone International Limited is one of the largest privately owned consumer electronics companies in UK. It enjoys nearly 15% market share in the domestic telephone sector in UK. Gulu also plays a major role in Phuket's high-end property market, having developed the Royal Phuket Marina on the east coast, which features luxury apartments and Villas.

Gulu Lalvani, is hoping to build an Asian playground for the rich and famous to rival the French Riviera and the Caribbean. Lalvani plans to build a doughnut-shaped island of 30 to 40 luxury villas and a hotel around a marina in Phang Nga Bay. Zoran Island, named after Lalvani’s youngest son, will be 3 km (1.9 miles) off Phuket, in Phang Nga Bay.
