Basic Travel Quota limits relaxed by RBI
The Basic Travel Quota (BTQ) limits has been relaxed by Reserve Bank of India. As per the BTQ norms resident individuals who are travelling for specific purposes abroad can take foreign exchange from the authorised dealer upto a particular limit without any permission.
The following table gives you an exact trend of the relaxation in the limit of BTQ.

Medical Treatment
As per earlier rules foreign exchange upto US $50,000 or its equivalent were given for medical treatment abroad without any estimate from a hospital/doctor. The limit has now been enhanced to US $100,000 or its equivalent, to resident Indians for medical treatment abroad, without insisting on any estimate from a hospital/doctor in India/abroad. The other conditions, as stated in paragraph 3 thereof, will remain unchanged.
Consultancy Services
Further, it has also been decided to raise the limit for remittance towards consultancy services procured from outside India to USD 1 million per project, as against the present limit of USD 100,000 |
