Indian American Bobby Jindal has become the favourite for the post of governor of Louisiana. Bobby Jindal was the highest-ranking Indian American in a federal government post, following confirmation by the Senate. He seemed too young to some when, three years ago at 26, he became executive director of a bipartisan presidential commission charged with reforming Medicare, America's largest insurance system for nearly 40 million people

Jindal's father came from an extremely poor, agrarian family.When they relocated to Baton Rouge, his parents rented a modest on-campus apartment, living on Raj's teaching stipend while Amar looked for work.

Jindal has been an independent thinker from an early age. Six months before he was born, his parents Amar Jindal, an engineer and Raj Jindal, a senior manager at Louisiana State Department of Labor emigrated from India to Louisiana to attend graduate school.
