PIO varisty to be established by Manipal Academy

A long promise made to the Persons of Indian Orgin (PIOs) by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for setting up a university exclusively catering to PIO and NRIs. This would be established by Manipal Academy of Higher Education Trust.

The university is going to come up at Davanahalli near Bangalore and is expected to begin function next year. It would be a deemed university under the UGC Act. The revenue surplus generated by the university will be re-invested in the institution for further development.

Of the total number of seats on offer, 50% will be for PIO/NRIs stdudents and remaining 50% would be for resident Indian students
