Indian-origin tycoon in South African graft case
South Africa's Deputy President is under the grip of anti corruption for charges of receiving half a million rands as bribe from a business tycoon of Indian origin in a multi billion arms deal.
The Scorpions Investigative Unit is questioning Jacob Zuma about his involvement with his financial adviser and Indian origin businessman, Shabir Shaik, a director of Nkobi Holdings that bagged a substantial arms deal contract.
The Scorpions have asked him about his knowledge or involvement in the acquisition of armaments by the Department of Defence, specifically the role of Parliament in the acquisition process and the involvement of the Nkobi Group in the acquisition of Corvette aircrafts from a French company. |
